Men Don’t Cry
For this piece of Silverfish original content, we wanted to release a film which de-stigmatises mental health amongst young men, motivated by the fact that suicide is the biggest killer of this demographic in the UK. We wanted to create a raw and hard-hitting piece of content so we worked with powerful, emerging talent – director Mollie Mills and DoP Jordan Buck. The film was screened at Stories of Being Festival in Mental Health Awareness Week, launched on Dazed & Confused and we aim for it to be shown in schools around the country.
The Silverfish Effect
In the last year alone we have developed our own film led campaigns ranging from helping start of football club to empower young girls, to campaigns on mental health and homelessness. Men Don’t Cry successfully presents an authentic voice and tackles the taboos surrounding men, expectation and emotional trauma head-on. These are not simply passion projects but an expression of our belief in the power of film to inspire change.
